Before even considering the purchase of a luxury yacht , whether it is a new construction project or a pre-owned vessel, we need to outline what it is you are trying to achieve. There are many different designs and styles of vessels, each one built for a different purpose. There is no point in wanting to, say, visit Antarctica in your private superyacht, if it only has a range of 2000nm and cannot handle heavy seas. This is why we have a client questionnaire that we run through to see what type of vessel you are looking for, so you can complete the missions you would like to. This questionaire will give you the basic outlines of the vessel characteristics, such as guest number, likely journey durations and locations, approximate vessel length, standard of service etc. From the questionaire we can approximate the type (displacement, semi displacement), horsepower, crew size, fuel and water capacity, and so on. This will tell us whether your goals are achievable within the vessel length, or if alterations to the vessel design characteristics are required. Having completed the design characteristics we can get an artists rendering of the yacht to see if it fulfills the vision that you originally had in mind. Once we have the vessel and your initial goals are fulfilled, it is time to move on to the design stage.
